About the Artist ...

Inspired by my surroundings, people, and animals...it brings me great pleasure to create my paintings!

The lush northwestern rainforest and the sunlit desert offers an extraordinary contrast of colour, climate and new experiences! Portraits of people and animals... involves a character study.

I think... that art and science are connected. The principles and techniques of painting is 'science'. The magic of 'art' comes from discovering the subject and allowing the creative process to unfold, revealing my own interpretation. (Hopefully thru applying the 'science'.)

When I begin a painting, the starting point or even the concept often bears little resemblance to the finished work! I am frequently surprised by the result, wondering 'where did that come from?!’ I have learned to trust that process. There are no mistakes — only unexpected paths that lead to new discoveries. My background, worked at Eaton's Department stores from 1970 to 1992, in the Display Dept. then as professional REALTOR from 1992 to 2026.

Memberships in clubs supporting art, include the South Surrey White Rock Art Society, The Canadian Federation of Artists and in California the Desert Art Centre and The Coachella Valley Water Colour Society. The City of White Rock is where my great-grandparents and grandparents settled in the 1930s. The family photo of soldiers and nurses is honoured by the large plate and cross that were rescued from my church. The wrapping paper on the plate suggests our beach with its incredible tide pools, while the stillness of the heron and the flight of the bird (lemon squeezer) share in the timeless beauty of this place.
